The occupations I choose are investment analyst and financial analyst. Investment analysts provide advisors with information about portfolio management, asset information, research on fund and writing analysis. Investment analysts also do presentations. Being a financial analyst is not a good choice for me. The job requires diligence at work and precision. Although I am diligent, I easily make mistakes on details. If I had taken the job, I might have lost it quickly. On the other hand, IN the following years in the university, I can improve my ability to focus on details. If I succeed in learning such skill, I might be a suitable candidate for this job. The occupation requires degree on finance which is similar to my major- economics. The two subjects are quite similar. They all mention how firms organize and how the economy works. Experienced investment analysts are likely to have higher salary than inexperienced investment analysts. According to the data I gather, investment analysts with 1-4 years of experience earn average salary of 71451 $. Investment analysts with 5-9 years of experience earn average salary of 75973 $. I am satisfied with the salary. The median annual wage of investment analysts is 63709 $ which is equivalent of 42000 ¥. In comparison, annual net income (exclude tax) is 64000 yuan. Such high salary is surly sufficient to support living expenditure. Being an investment analyst is very meaningful. Since I give advices on investment and resource allocation, I can advise the firm to invest on projects that benefit the whole economy. For example, investment on rubbish recycling improves the environment. Yet, I am restrained by the advisors to propose investment that yields the most benefit for the firm. Apart from that, I can make friends from this occupation. This is because investment analysts often cooperate with colleagues. They have fluent communication skills and cooperation skills. High salary is surly more important than meaningfulness. If I am single, economic pressure can be small. My parents depend on saving and pension for maintain high living standard. I can rent houses which are affordable. On the other hand, marriage drastically increases living expenses. Housing expenditure is particularly high in Shanghai. It adds to total expenditure. My future wife’s salary may increase total income. Yet, it depends on her annual salary. Low annual salary probably does not do much to overcome the financial problem. If annual salary is sufficient, meaningfulness would be the main factor in selecting a job.
