Artifacts

My artifact is a small, round, pin given to me as a member of the Asian Business Students Association with its logo on it. I have it pinned on my gym bag (which I got from Start-Up Cincinnati on a Business Scholars trip for added measure), and I originally got it for asking a question during a meeting of ABSA as they value active participation of its members. This pin is quite meaningful as ABSA was the first club that I joined that I really felt welcomed and comfortable in to ease my transition to Ohio State, plus I learned quite a bit about business from the various speakers they had as well as the knowledge of its members. I was able to make friends with some members of the executive board and have actively gone to their meetings and activities, such as socials and business workshops. Most importantly, I learned from the club meetings, or more accurately confirmed, that I wanted to be employed as a consultant due to the excellent presentation and speech given by a former employee at EY. As for the future of my involvement in the club, I hope I get accepted to the upcoming Harvard Business trip and obtain a position in the executive board. From there I can build my resume and skills to become a successful consultant and pave the way for my future career.

About Me

I am Ralph Zhang, a current first-year finance major attending The Ohio State University and enrolled in the Max M. Fisher College of Business. I was born in Maumee, Ohio, and lived most of my life in the nearby town of Perrysburg. Studying business at The Ohio State University was not perhaps something I had planned for my entire life, but now that I am in it I do not regret a bit of it. Mainly, I just see it as a great stepping stone and a useful tool I can utilize to attain my further goals and success in the business world as well as a career in consulting. For that I intend to fully get involved and make use of my time during these four years of college, as I realize this period in one’s life is indispensable in opportunity and the chance to improve oneself. I believe that a college education is twofold: the skills and knowledge you gain in the classroom, but especially the abilities you gain outside it in improving your networking and communication. Currently I am involved in the Business Scholars Program, the Undergraduate Finance Association, the Asian Business Students Association, FisherCares, and intern for the Red Cross around campus. My goals for my college career is to obtain an internship in the summer ideally by the summer of sophomore year, an executive board position in a business club, and join the Buckeye Undergraduate Consulting Club.
