G.O.A.L.S.

Global Awareness: Being an undergrad at OSU has definitely helped in furthering my global awareness. I am constantly surrounded by people of many diverse cultures and backgrounds that want to share their individual uniqueness. I plan to join at least 2 clubs that will allow me to not only learn and interact with more people with the same cultural background as me, but also get to expand my horizon with learning more about others. As of now, I am studying Spanish, and it is more than just learning a foreign language. Not only is it learning a different language, it’s learning their culture.

Original Inquiry: Being a first year student, I desire for more experience. As a chemistry major, I also desire to be able to do research. I want to take courses that challenge me and work my brain so that I can be more successful in the future.

Academic Enrichment: I am currently pursuing a major in Chemistry because I aspire to go to pharmacy school and become a Doctor of Pharmacy. Right now, I am currently taking Calculus, Chemistry, Spanish, and the honors arts and sciences class. All of these classes will help me in the future. Chemistry and Calculus will be a tremendous part of becoming successful in pharmacy, and Spanish will allow me be able to communicate better with more patients. The arts and science honors course will most importantly prepare me and mentally help me along the way. I plan to continue taking challenging science and math courses because it is a big part of what being a pharmacist is and does daily. I also plan on taking more classes that will help me in the way that I can communicate better with patients around me.

Leadership Development: Leadership is very important in building character. I believe that by having leadership roles, it teaches a person responsibility. I hope to be in a leadership position of a club or any organization. Although the extra workload, it adds integrity to character. In high school, I was very involved and held various leadership positions in the clubs I was a member of. Beginning college, I was focused mainly no my academics and not other activities. I plan to change this and get more involved.

Service & Engagement: Being involved with the outside community isn’t most people’s priority, though this should change. By being involved, it can shed light on bigger issues in the world. I have attended a few meetings of various community service clubs where I could serve as a volunteer to help those in women shelters, elementary school, and even children in a whole other country. By being more involved in the outside world, it can definitely help sharpen the understanding of social issues.
