Management of Library and Geographic Information System: Which is more suitable for me?
A library director are not only supposed to respond to the all thing about the library， such as the normal stuff，management of money， regular activities, work and appointment of staff and updating and changing books and equipment regularly, they are also response to change the whole library to the one be needed by users. The salary of the job change a lot between different kind of library and places, from 38k to 103k, the average is 63 k. The people who hold the job more possible to be a female, hold a highly satisfied and related many kinds of job about library, what’s the job need is highly power of administration or management, but a low standard of leadership or strategic planning.
We can see library director is a complex and important job. While, I don’t like it and I believe it’s not suitable for me, the biggest problem is it complexity: the director are supposed to take care of all aspects of a library, even more, not only a library. There are many kinds of library, maybe a library of a country or a library of a private school, there are not a standard for all the libraries that can be used to manage library and show what their user need, which means that to be a director require the director are responsible, sensitive to surrender and careful.
There are an example can show it directly: a library for a high school of Shanghai, China is required to hold more than 50 copies for one books for most of students will just borrow books by the time teachers ask them to do, and a whole class of students will borrow the same books at same time. Because of that the library hold few kinds and many books, which occur most of space in library. However, a library for a high school which students be educated for go abroad, they need more space to hold regular activities many kinds but few books.

Geographic Information system manager is a job I wanted to do: interesting, can be apart from a large project, needs the computer system and math. GIS managers it’s a job for the managers who arrange the team of IT workers to produce the geographic date for the need of government companies or other organizations, these date will be used in many aspects. What the job needs more rely on professional knowledge and also need a little about management of people. With time go by, the salary will increase quickly, which means the job are value to be done for whole life, the job is more suitable for male and the experience employee.
I’m suitable for this job for my major is about date and computer, and Information system is an interesting product, which meets the world’s trend now. Besides that, it’s suitable for my plan of life. a busy but well-paid occupation, interesting, challenging and won’t disappear in the few decades.
