There are 7,000,000,000 people in the world, but only 40,000 of them will communicate with us in their lifetime. The probability that I will meet you is much less than the probability that we see a meteor with my naked eye. Hi, I’m Yiwen Zhang, a transfer student from China, now studying in math major, OSU.
During my first two years at university, traveling around China became a must for my holidays. Once I met an 18-year-old cyclist on the frozen snow mountain in Tibet province of China at an altitude of 5km. He raised his bicycle and asked me to take a photo of him. Few people ride alone to remote snow mountains, from then on, I also longed to explore unknown places by myself.
As a person who is curious about everything, I hold many significant experiences for myself. I have learned d to play the piano because I am interested in music. I have learned to play badminton because I adore sports stars. I have made stickers because I love beautiful things. I had made a quick decision to take a trip and bought a plane ticket for tomorrow.
Had meeted different kind of nations, what I want is a culturally diverse school, which meant that the school is open and inclusive, preferably with large numbers of students from all over the world. OSU happened to have this characteristic, which became the main reason for me to study in OSU. Out of curiosity about big data processing information and artificial intelligence, I hope to learn mathematical theory and computer skills, and choose other mathematical related directions at the postgraduate stage, such as computer algorithms. After all, the unknown is always mysterious.
