Plagiarism Project

In this project, we first make changes in the text to plagiarize it and then do a role play to spot my partner’ s plagiarism, which is a good way for us to acknowledge plagiarism and prevent us from it.

PERSONAL PROFILE

My name is Zhecong Zhang. I am an international transfer student from China and majoring in mathematics. I marveled at the magic of numbers from a very early age, which stimulated my love and passion for mathematics. If math is as important as the right hand to me, calligraphy is like the left hand. I started learning calligraphy and Chinese painting at the age of 5. Besides, I am both basketball team member and table tennis team member of my high school and previous university.

After years of learning calligraphy, I started to understand the old Chinese saying, “The way characters are written is a portrait of the person who writes them.” My years of learning calligraphy not only brought me medals from prestigious national calligraphy competitions, but also made me a better person, which helped me to be more patient, taught me to better collaborate and gave me an artistic perspective of seeing the world and solving problems. Throughout my high school years, every Chinese New Year, I wrote and sold “Chunlian” by myself, also known as the Chinese New Year couplets. It is the most common and important custom when celebrating Chinese New so I was able to raise much money for the local Red Cross Society. It was my first experience of being able to use my talent to do good for other people and society, which brought great satisfaction to my life.

As one of the top universities in the United States, the Ohio State University is a lot of Chinese students’ dream school, including myself. As the founding member of the prestigious Big Ten, the rigorous academic programs led by some of the top professors help prepare students for all different walks of life and empower students to move the world forward. The Mathematics Department of Arts and Sciences in OSU is one of the oldest mathematics departments in the United States. The rich history plus an amazing faculty that represents a broad array of disciplines within mathematics and also works on problems arising in all fields is the main reason I want to study in this program. I would love to continue to pursue Master and Doctor degree. I desire for making differences in the world and this is why I continue to explore deeper into the Mathematics world.
