About

Bio

Hi! My name is Danny Zhang, an international student from China. I’m first-year design foundation student at Ohio State University, aiming for interior design. I learned the notion of interior design through the TV show called Queer Eye.  The interior designer, Bob, redesigned the living space for different people and tried to meet their needs. He not only made space more functional but also aesthetic. I thought it was as cool as a profession could ever be.

Reflection of Design

I embraced interior design, not only because of the freedom of self-expression, but of its responsibility: designers solve real problems, challenge conventions, and push society forward. I want to help people solve real problems that can be improved in all aspects of the space by using my knowledge, design thinking, and ideas.

Excitement to Learn about the Design Process

OSU has many students from different backgrounds that would share different insights into different living experiences and preferences. I looked forward to thought-provoking conversations with my peers because, ultimately, interior designs are about the people’s diversified needs.

Noteworthy Info

I enjoy drawing, using lines on paper to express my thoughts and concepts with visual language explicitly. Meanwhile, I have always admired artisans who can create beautiful, attractive, and useful things with their bare hands while providing people with more possibilities to view our world.
