About Me

Although I was born in California, and grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, I have struggled to call myself American. My mother and father were both born in South Africa, and most of my current family members are scattered across the globe in places such as South Africa, Australia, Canada, and Greece. My family’s global inhabitance has spawned my constant desire to travel and experience new cultures. As of now, my education primarily stems from the public school that I attended in Cleveland, named “Orange”. My favorite courses were, most likely, Calculus and Woods Design. Both of these subjects were taught by hands-on teachers that helped me think outside of the box to discover an end goal – whether that was a mathematical answer or the completion of an intricate table. The best thing about my Woods Design class was that my teacher forced us to discover our independence. I was able to choose my project, and if I made a mistake, it was up to me to fix it. Putting the last coat of finish on my numerous projects, gave me a sense of self-achievement that will serve me well in the future. I am truly excited by the notion that I will now be able to study subjects of my choosing, focusing on obtaining the knowledge that will propel me to succeed, both during and post university. I hope to ultimately participate in both an internship and a research project, where I will be able to test my knowledge and expand upon my prior understandings.
