Response to The Secret of Drawing

I love to see all the drawings and artworks of different artists. I was fascinated to see how different artists use different styles to convey their different styles. I really think about the point discussed in the film about drawing as a child, and how that creativity changes when we grew up. I love the portraits of James Gillray. I like the use of lines and scribbles in his work. The nervous lines to make a portrait in a sense that it conveys a sense of different style was impressive. I also like the work of Andrea Masson. I like his idea of drawing free with an unconscious mind. He doesn’t follow any specific direction or shape for his drawings instead, he draws anything with the unconscious mind and his drawings come out as abstract landscapes. Dan Miller is one of my favorite artists. I saw his work in the creative growth art center video and I was so impressed. He uses the alphabet letters to let his mind and hands make an artwork. His drawings look like scribbles but when you look closer they are actually letters on top of each other and in different directions. His speed of work is also very impressive. The scale he chooses to work on is also huge. I like the idea of drawing in speed to see how our hands and mind collaborate to make something pleasing to our eyes. Looking at the work of different artists and getting to know their work process was informative and fascinating. It tells us how people of any age and mindset can create beautiful drawings.
