Seth Young Media Links

I’ve been lucky to be invited to appear on television, speak on radio, and often find myself quoted in print or on-line media.  Below is a list of media in which I make some sort of appearance, quote, or have been referenced.

May 18, 2018:  Los Angeles Times: Why are we relying on profit-driven Uber and Elon Musk for our transit future?

The LA Times extracted a portion of a Wired Magazine article I was interviewed for that discussed the challenges of managing more than a few aerial vehicles such as helicopters and drones in a busy metropolitan environment.

May 5, 2018: Business Traveller:  “Airport Train Considered for Boston Airport”

I was quoted based on my expertise in airport automated pedestrian movement systems, a topic which I studied extensively during my doctoral work at U.C. Berkeley.  I refer to this point in my early career as the days I was known as the “moving walkway guy”.

January 2, 2018: USA Today.  Airline Safety Sets Record in 2017:  Trump claims credit, but experts site years of efforts.

The headline is self-explanatory.  My quotes in the article are likely the reason why I won’t be appointed to FAA Administrator anytime soon…

December 23, 2017: Wired.  Fixing America’s Holiday Travel Mess Might Just Ruin America

Oh man did they make me sound like I have something against the Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, which I don’t.  I think they do an amazing job moving 100 million passengers a year through their facility each year!  The argument I was making here was that we shouldn’t necessarily cram everyone through hubs during the holiday season.  Spread the wealth and offer service direct between smaller markets where capacity is available.

December 11, 2017:  AOPA.  Enrollment Up at Many Aviation Colleges

A true statement. At Ohio State, we’ve been working hard to promote aviation careers, highlight the massive shortage of professional pilots, and work with the airlines to offer incentives for students to become a part of our exciting industry.
