How to overcome procrastination

Procrastination is a serious problem for most people. This post will describe some useful ways to stop procrastination.

Procrastination is always a problem for most people. For example, an assignment due at one week from now, then many people will wait several days to do it instead of finish it immediately. Many people concerned about how to overcome procrastination. I will discuss some methods to solve procrastination.  Marano (2016) says procrastinators actively look for distractions, particularly ones that don’t take a lot of commitment on their part. We should first use some tools like the Google calendar to make a plan for a short time about what we need to do. Then we could use some ways to supervise ourselves to finish the assignments in the plan. We should set a clock to remind us to do or just write some notes. Ths most difficult step is whether we could finish the first assignment at the right time, if we could, then the rest of the plan isn’t a large problem. The condition for study or work could also influence our plan. For example, if the computer, phones, TV, all near us, then it will be very difficult to study. If we decide to study on the computer, then we better make sure there is no game in it. Trello is another useful tool to eliminate procrastination. It has a detailed plan about what to do and it can also remind us to finish the assignments quickly.

Trello

Trello is a very useful tool to schedule our study plan. I will talk about its characteristics and how it improves our efficiency.

Trello helps me make a more detailed plan about what to do in a short time. You could use a different color to distinguish the types of assignments. I can track my progress by using checklists. It’s easy for new users to manipulate, not like other tools are a little tricky. I list some exams or homework I need to do in a period, it’s clear to see what I should do in order. I also list something not relate to the study, such as apply for an internship, travel to Chicago. If you are a worker. it’s also useful for you to list some parts of the job you need to do. I find I can divide different assignments into “to do”, “doing”, “done”, so I could check what I have done and doing conveniently. But sometimes it looks messy, so I think I will need some time to adjust it and change the background.

Benefits of online courses

Online classes have many benefits that face-to-face classes don’t have. It’s quicker and more convenient than the entity classes. I will also use some points from reading to discuss the benefits.

I have taken many online classes in OSU, they definitely have a lot of benefits that face-to-face classes don’t have. Long (2004) says online classes have advantages in the speed of development and delivery, flexibility, cost savings, freedom, the convenience of time and space. We don’t need to come to class in a specific time and place, just sit down in the room is enough. Even if we miss something, it’s easy to track knowledge. If we drive the car to the school, it will have cost in the oil. By taking the class online, we don’t need to pay any money and we can save more time. If students have enough control ability, they could have higher efficiency in the online classes than the face-to-face classes. Because all the materials are posted online, you could study early to finish the assignments. Although online classes have some problems, for example, if you can’t control your self, then your efficiency will be very low and the communication between classmates and teacher isn’t frequent, it still has many benefits for the students who take them.
