Aviation Cover Letter

To whom it may concern,

I am currently a sophomore majoring in Aviation business management at The Ohio State University. After graduating, I will have earned a BA in business management, as well as piloting qualifications from basic private licensure up to commercial.

I am eager to contribute my abilities and experience to the Aviation industry where ever it will fit me. I am versatile and always will be determined to improve any situation I am in.

I hope to be part of internship opportunities provided by Ohio State to various Aviation industries such as Net Jets and Lane Aviation.  Shortly after graduation, I would like to become a certified flight instructor, to gain hours to eventually make it to a major airline. If no openings such as these come about, I would like to enter into some sort of management position.

I have a passion for Aviation, because it is a career field like no other. I am keeping my options open for anything the industry wants to throw me.

Sincerely,

Derek L. Yoder

  1. I think it’s good for the most part especially since there wasn’t a specific company. Maybe make it a little longer for a real one.

  2. I think it’s good you’re emphasizing that you’re willing to learn to whatever job you’re in. It shows you’re willing to be a team player helping the industry as a whole until you get the job you really want.

  3. Good enthusiasm showing that you’re genuinely interested in the industry and that you are serious about wanting an internship to make yourself more valuable and experienced coming out after graduation. Also good to note at the end that you’re open to anything in the industry, it shows that you’re not close-minded about your potential.

  4. Short and concise. Perhaps this is counter-intuitive for me, but I feel that the mention of being open to any position is actually a negative, because it shows that you are unfocused, as opposed to knowing exactly what you are looking for, but I cannot say for sure, since the public opinion seems to infer otherwise.

  5. I think you have a very strong closing statement because although you specify your interests early on you leave yourself open to other opportunities in the end.

  6. You seem eager to enter the work force and willing to work hard, which is good. While being willing to start out doing anything may be desirable and necessary, perhaps an employer might like to know some more specific goals you have for your career once you enter the industry.
