Postdoctoral fellow Laura Baltierra Jasso, Ph.D., was awarded a Pelotonia Postdoctoral Fellowship!
The OSU Comprehensive Cancer Center Pelotonia is a community annual fundraising campaign with one goal: end cancer. Pelotonia began in 2009 and has raised over $157 million for cancer research. Since it’s inception, only 112 postdoctoral fellows have been awarded this prestigious fellowship. We are very proud that Dr. Baltierra Jasso is among this distinguished group!
Dr. Baltierra Jasso is studying the mechanism of mouse mammary tumor virus (MMTV) integration. This retrovirus causes mammary tumors in mice and has long served as a model of Wnt associated oncogenesis. The integration event is specifically linked to tumor formation. Dr. Baltierra Jasso’s studies will investigate precisely how MMTV integrase chooses deleterious integration sites.
As part of her fellowship, both Laura and I will be raising money for Pelotonia. Details for making a donation to support Dr. Baltierra Jasso’s Pelotonia will be forthcoming.
