About Me

Welcome! My name is Grace Yaw and I am currently a first year at the Ohio State University. I am from the beautiful state of Ohio, though I was born in Seattle, Washington. I went to Gahanna Lincoln High School and graduated with an honors diploma. I was a part of my school’s chapter of the National Honors Society and was named one of the state’s top Scholar Athletes. I played varsity volleyball my junior and senior year and was a member of Art Club and Ski club.

I am majoring in Astronomy and Astrophysics and hoping to continue onto graduate school to earn a PhD. My intended career is to become an astronaut and research at NASA or another space institution. I particularly have an interest in black holes and general relativity. I’m hoping that I will be able to expand my knowledge of the universe and further my education here at Ohio State.

My love for space and astronomy sprouted when I was about 14 years old, I watched the movie Interstellar starring Matthew McConaughey. The film sparked a passion inside of me and I have been in the pursuit of knowledge of the universe ever since.

I worked as a Brand Representative at Hollister Co for about a year and a half. That job taught me many valuable assets such as time management, teamwork, work ethic and people skills.

I am very passionate about the environment and our world. I try to reduce my waste and carbon footprint as much as possible. I believe it is very important to take care of our Earth as well as its life. I am both an animal and a people lover. I advocate for both human and animal rights. The Golden Rule is a heavy influence over my life. I only treat people the way I wish to be treated and support every kind of person. It is important to make the other people around you feel important and heard.

I am very excited for my time here at OSU and have high hopes of what I will achieve. I want to join many different clubs and participate in student life. I cannot wait to experience all the amazing opportunities Ohio State will provide!
