Year in Review

[ “Year in Review”  is where you should reflect on the past year and show how you have evolved as a person and as a student.  You may want to focus on your growth in a particular area (as a leader, scholar, researcher, etc.) or you may want to talk about your overall experience over the past year.  For more information, go to: http://honors-scholars.osu.edu/e-portfolio. G.O.A.L.S.

Global Awareness: Currently I’m involved with AAIV and AAA which focuses on bring together the asian community to share our cultural backgrounds while also fighting against injustices. The current goal is to expand from eastern asians to encompass all of Asia, especially underrepresented groups. Throughout the 4 years I stay at OSU, I hope to become an integral member of these clubs and take active leadership roles in both of them while also expanding to bring awareness to other cultural groups as well.
Original Inquiry: The summer going into junior year of high school I worked an internship at the University of Cincinnati focusing on lymph transportation, specifically Apo A-5 and its affects on fat absorption. While I am straying from the science route now, original inquiry can also be found in other areas. My shakespeare course, for example, pushes for open entertainment, refining a known play and expressing it in a new way. I hope to find new work in business promoting new models of success that enrich the industry.
Academic Enrichment: Academically an honors filled schedule ensures that my coursework is challenging and entertaining throughout my 4 years of undergraduate school. Currently I plan on majoring in business with a pre-med track still available, which leads to an interesting schedule outlook. A mix of science courses and business courses demands a lot of time but is also very interesting to me, expanding my skill set beyond a single area.
Leadership Development: In AAIV I am currently being apprenticed in hopes of joining leadership in that group. I also will look for a business fraternity to expand my networking opportunities leading to increased chances for leadership in a variety of clubs I will become connected to.
Service Engagement: The main service engagement I would like to explore is in the hospital on campus at OSU. I have already reached out to a friend who works at bringing people into the volunteering world at the hospital and hope to start next semester, but at the latest, next year.
