The fields of design managers are diverse. For example, they could work for a web design company, real estate developers, or sales teams. Their job is to organize, maintain, and make changes to designs as needed and also to meet with vendors to maximize revenue opportunities.

design managers also lead teams of other designers to run a given project smoothly. Therefore, they often have great written and verbal communication skills and good evaluations(decide to hire or fire) of employees in the

design team. On the other hand, the least requirement for design managers is a bachelor’s degree in a related field and can possess some knowledge of electrical and mechanical engineering. Their average salaries are $81,642 which is relatively high. However, they’ll have to work at nights, weekends, and even holidays if a project is behind. the satisfaction for design managers is also high.

As for me, I’m satisfied with the average salaries and find it a relatively good choice, because I prefer creative jobs and design has always been my second choice. My major is international business. The similarity between international business and design managers is that they both required communication and leadership skills; the difference is international business does not require the knowledge of electrical and mechanical engineering. Design managers also have to get involved in business and probably worldwide business.

Another job is senior interior designer. They work closely with the project manager, design coordinators, and project teams on conceptual designs, presentations, design development, and production and are responsible for developing, managing, and recording technical aspects of the project. Senior interior designers also must be able to create graphic presentations, 3D renderings, and construction drawings. They must possess great verbal and nonverbal skills and be able to apply them in different situations. Also, they must have strong organizational and communicational skills, for they must be able to work with coordinators, fabricators, and regulatory agencies and inform the project managers of the problems and attend the meeting with them. The requirements for senior interior designers is a bachelor’s degree in architecture or design and proficiency in programs such as 2D/3D software, AutoCAD, 3D Studio MAX, Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator.

In my opinion, the senior interior designer is a good job and a relatively decent average salary of $69,097, but this job may not be suitable for me. My major international business has a lot of differences with senior interior design, such as the requirements of the proficient skill of utilizing the software and programs. However, there are some similarities. Both international business students and senior interior designers need to have strong organizational and communicational skills and they are required to travel.
