Year in Review

[ “Year in Review”  is where you should reflect on the past year and show how you have evolved as a person and as a student.  You may want to focus on your growth in a particular area (as a leader, scholar, researcher, etc.) or you may want to talk about your overall experience over the past year.  For more guidance on using your ePortfolio, including questions and prompts that will help you get started, please visit the Honors & Scholars ePortfolio course in Carmen. G.O.A.L.S.

For global awareness, I want to study a variety of different languages. I am specifically focusing on German since it was a language that I had always wanted to learn how to speak. Perhaps in the future, I’ll become proficient enough in it to study abroad.

Original inquiry means to pursue creative solutions to questions and problems. This part would probably be dependent on each student and their aspirations. For example, since I am majoring in Physics, I may choose to pursue research experience on campus. There are multiple avenues for achieving this but I think there are two ways that are the most straight forward. Ohio State University provides several classes related to original inquiry. There is even a resource page on the Department of Physics website that lists potential sources of original inquiry.

My choice of being a Physics major stems from my interest in being one when I was younger. Other GE courses I choose will be because I find it more preferable than other courses. This means that the courses are likelier for me to develop an interest toward that particular subject.

The activities and clubs that I want to be involved in would be Astronomy club and Philosophy club. My interpretation of leadership would be that of a person that contributes ideas that others may contemplate on and vice versa. Involvement in various clubs and activities encourages idea sharing and collaboration with others. My involvement in those activities don’t have anything to do with my major or minor, it is just something I like to do for fun.

Service engagement can be fulfilled through multiple paths at OSU. The campus provides a lot of opportunities for students to be active in the community. One such resource that I will utilize would be the Service Engagement Program student organization which aims to connect students with interest groups that connect to the student’s passions.

Artifacts

[Artifacts are the items you consider to be representative of your academic interests and achievements. For each entry, include both an artifact and a detailed annotation.  An annotation includes both a description of the artifact and a reflection on why it is important to you, what you learned, and what it means for your next steps.  For more guidance on using your ePortfolio, including questions and prompts that will help you get started, please visit the Honors & Scholars ePortfolio course in Carmen.
