Discussion:

I think the result from the quiz on Payscale is very accurate and these jobs are ideal choices for me. This is because I have always been curious about science and engineering. I am somewhat sensitive to numbers and I want to work with numbers and data in the future. I believe the numbers always tell the truth. I don’t find this boring, instead, I find it fun to be a data architect or a scrum master, thinking about how to design the structure for a database, how to run a database well, or working with people in the scrum team and tearing down problems together.

My current major is mathematics, and I think the major I am going to pursue in the future is either Applied Mathematics or Computer Information Science. So, these jobs would fit my major well. The characters in these two jobs are quite different. Scrum Master is more of a position at the management-level, controlling the whole team, while Data Architect is an engineering job, which doesn’t necessarily play a managing role. However, both of these jobs require logical thinking as well as sensitivity for the change of data. I think more experience and education will definitely bring better salaries. Since both jobs require expertise in mathematics and computer science, we will have a better chance to get one of these jobs if with more experience and education.

Both jobs are of high satisfaction and high job meaning. I think this is because these jobs are crucial in most of the areas relating to data and calculating, including banking, insurance, internet, software, consulting, etc. I do think satisfaction is more important than the salary. Salary could be the reason why we do a job, but satisfaction is why we keep doing this job and offers us a sense of belonging.
