G.O.A.L.S.

In order to broaden my global perspective, I plan to look into a study abroad experience.  If I am able to travel and study my data analytics field in a different country, I feel as though it would be beneficial to my education.  This is at least a few semesters in the future, though, and I am much more excited to take some classes that I would not have access to in high school.  Some cultural and historical classes seem interesting to widen my education and broaden my global perspective.  Research is also very important to deepen my understanding of my studied field.  Getting an internship over the summer or working alongside a professor in their research are both experiences that I hope to encounter throughout my college career.  These would both give me a larger insight into the real-world applications of the information I am learning, as well as spark my interest for my own research.  Even the more individual work that is done within upper-level classes within my major will give opportunity to conduct research in a classroom environment.  Alongside research outside of the classroom, choosing appropriate classes for my major is critical to experience the best academic enrichment.  I chose data analytics as my major to further develop my mathematic skills and to incorporate a modern day application of them.  A solid foundation of lower level classes is crucial to be able to build on them with advanced course work.  I plan to challenge myself every semester to complete the best work I can in my selected classes and choose those classes appropriately.

Leadership as a skill is so important to succeeding in a work place as well as community groups.  I know this is an area I need to work on, so stepping up in the classroom is crucial.  Taking a leader role in projects and being helpful among peers will allow for me to develop and showcase these skills.  I hope to be able to utilize these newer skills in the future of my academic and professional careers.  Lastly, service engagement is, in my opinion, one of the most important areas in maturing as a human.  Using your abilities to help those in need and making an impact in others’ lives is so important to improving a community.  I plan to join some volunteer groups and continue to do those services throughout college.  Most people see this as a burdensome requirement for academics or applications, but it is an area that is important during and even after college.

About Me

I am a first year Data Analytics major in the Honors program at Ohio State University.  I have a deep-rooted interest in mathematics and am beginning to enjoy computer sciences!  I hope to graduate from Ohio State in four years and continue on to a fulfilling job as a data analyst for a company with similar goals to mine. Apart from my academics, I love to run and draw and hope to find a place for these recreational activities throughout my life.
