Artifacts

My artifact is the website I created for my senior capstone project.  My website is called Honor Properties, which leased properties for upperclassmen at The Ohio State University.

I had the support of my senior capstone teachers and an employee of Home Team properties to assist me in finding a place to host the website.  The programming, domain name, and the server hosting was done by me however.

I learned during this project how to program a website, maintain a schedule, and create and maintain a server.

I learned how to program in HTML, JavaScript, and CSS.  I have no experience in programming these languages so I took my time before the senior project actually started to focus on learning how to code in the new languages. I was able to make some connections between the logic behind the three languages, with the course I took about programming logic at Columbus State Community College during the winter of my junior year.  Intro to programming logic really helped me understand the logic of programming and I applied it to this senior project.  I learned how to maintain a project schedule as well, which helped me stay productive throughout the projects duration.  I believe that I have more focused on projects and have become a better programmer through this project as I learn how to handle a professional project as well as learning other programming languages.

About Me

My name is Jack Woo.  I am from New Albany Ohio and I went to New Albany High School.  I am currently studying at The Ohio State University.  My major is Computer and Information Science and I have always been fascinated with computers.  My career goal is to be apart of something great, such as working at the cutting edge of computer science at IBM or Microsoft or exploring the edges of space with Blue Origin.  Currently, I am a part of the TaeWkonDo club here at OSU.

As stated above, I am from New Albany, a town close to the OSU campus.  During my Highschool summers, I worked as a lifeguard at my local country club, where I learned how to be professional and work as a team.  Using, these skills, I plan on securing an internship and furthering my professional skills in the near future.  My goal for my E-portfolio is to document my journey as I work towards bettering my skills as a professional and as a software developer.
