Anna Bosworth is an MS student in the Enviro
nment and Natural Resources Graduate Program, specializing in Environmental Social Science. She holds a B.S. in Environmental Science with a specialization in Water Science. Her research explores how descriptive social norms influence farmers’ adoption of conservation practices in the U.S. Midwest. By combining survey data with remotely-sensed observations of field-level practices, she examines how neighborhood effects and farmer characteristics shape conservation behavior. Her work aims to inform socially driven strategies to improve water quality and promote sustainable agriculture.
Anna’s master’s research is part of the Coproducing Actionable Science to Understand, Mitigate, and Adapt to Cyanobacterial Harmful Algal Blooms (CHABS) project, which aims to address persistent nutrient pollution and the worsening occurrence of harmful algal blooms in the Western Lake Erie Basin. The project integrates biophysical, social, and economic research to improve understanding of nutrient cycling, farmer collective action, and governance in complex socio-environmental systems. This work supports efforts to advance transformative, stakeholder-engaged approaches to water quality management and reduce the impacts of toxic algal blooms on ecosystems and communities.
