Summary: The goal of this project is to address how best to design an early warning system for harmful algal blooms given the unique needs of diverse stakeholder groups. Specifically, how do we tailor the use of sensor technology to ensure that the right information (from a content standpoint) is delivered at the right frequency to each group given their desired sources/channels. A survey will be administered to key stakeholder groups including lake and lakeside businesses, lake residents and visitors, decision makers and the media.
A summary of findings can be found in the research report Stakeholder Assessment for a HABs Early Warning System.
Funding provided by the Great Lakes Observing System.
