Artifacts
Eagle Scout – As a Cub Scout, I fell in love with camping and the outdoors, so when I became a Boy Scout I expected to have fun and make a lot of great memories. Now, I did do all of those things, but along the way, I gained so much more from Boy Scouts than I could ever imagine. Scouting puts an emphasis on a peer leadership. I had many opportunities to lead others around me, and it culminated during my Eagle Scout Project where I led a book and stuffed animal drive to create a lending library for the Goodwill Easter Seals Child Development Center. Even after obtaining the Eagle rank, I continued to be active within my troop and to give back to the organization that given me so much.
MATLAB – Pictured above is the Command Window to MATLAB, the program I have learned to use in my Fundamentals of Engineering class this semester. It may not seem like much, but the blank page represents the many possibilities within programming. When I first experienced coding in high school, it did not appeal to me. At the time, I did not fully grasp its potential. Now in college, as I use MATLAB more, I have discovered how much enjoy programming and see so many more of its uses. This semester, my programming experience culminated in the writing of a complete code to run a railroad crossing on a model train track. While some of the debugging may have been frustrating, finishing with a working product was extremely satisfying.
About Me
Hello, my name is Paul Williger, and I am a first year Chemical Engineering student at The Ohio State University. Last June, I graduated from Springboro High School in Springboro, Ohio. While in high school, I ran track and cross country and participated in many extracurricular activities, including robotics club and academic team. I am also an Eagle Scout and enjoy camping and being outdoors. As an Ohio State student, I look forward to pursuing exciting co-op opportunities and using my skills from the classroom to tackle real world problems.
