Fulton County Offering ‘Snowbird’ Pesticide Applicator Training on November 18

OSU Extension Fulton County is hosting a fertilizer and private pesticide applicator recertification meeting on Thursday, November 18 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at 8770 SR 108, Wauseon for those flying south for the winter. Categories CORE, 1, 2, 6, and 15 (fertilizer) will be offered and videos will be available for specialty categories. No commercial credits will be offered. Cost is $10 for fertilizer; $35 for pesticide; and $45 for both. Note, this course fee is separate from the $30 renewal fee payable to the Ohio Department of Agriculture. Private Pesticide Recertification Deadline is July 1

Private pesticide and fertilizer applicators who expired either in March 2020 or 2021 have until July 1 to recertify and renew. A self-paced online recertification course is available at https://pested.osu.edu/onlinerecert. You can also access the course by clicking the purple box titled “Self-Paced Recertification Courses” at pested.osu.edu (see screenshot image below).

Upcoming In-Person Opportunities to Recertify Fertilizer Applicator Certificate or Private Pesticide Applicator License

If you still need to recertify your Fertilizer Applicator Certificate or Private Pesticide Applicator License, there are two upcoming local, in-person opportunities to do so.

OSU Extension Paulding County will be hosting a re-certification meeting on Tuesday, April 6 at the Paulding County Fairgrounds (503 Fairground Drive, Paulding). Fertilizer re-certification (Category 15) will be offered from 12:00 to 1:15 p.m. and pesticide recertification (CORE and Categories 1-7) will be offered from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Pre-registration is required by calling 419-399-8225.

OSU Extension Henry County will also be hosting a re-certification meeting on Thursday, April 8 at the Northwest State Community College (22600 SR 34, Archbold) in Room E1101B (enter door A10 for check-in). Fertilizer re-certification (Category 15) will be offered from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. and pesticide recertification (CORE and Categories 1-7) will be offered from 9:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Pre-registration is required by April 6 at 419-592-0806 or go.osu.edu/henry_pat_2021. 2020 Online Ohio Commercial Pesticide Applicator Recertification is Now Open!

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, OSUE Pesticide Safety Education Program partnered with the Ohio Department of Agriculture to temporarily provide online credits for Ohio commercial pesticide applicators who need recertification hours for the 2020 deadline.

This course will be available deadline for 90 days after the State of Emergency ends, or December 1 – whichever comes first. All categories are available. Continue reading

Ohio Department of Agriculture Partners with OSU Extension to Provide Online Pesticide Recertification Opportunities

REYNOLDSBURG, Ohio (June 29, 2020) – During the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA), is partnering with the Ohio State University Extension Pesticide Safety Education Program (PSEP) to temporarily provide online recertification for pesticide applicators and fertilizer certificate holders whose licenses expired in spring of 2020. The online recertification will be available Monday, July 6. For commercial applicators, it will be available August 10.
