Beneficial Insects & Slug Management Workshop

Building your soil health comes with the right balance of several different practices. Over the years we have worked to achieve healthier soil and cleaner water; however, one area we have only scratched the surface of is improved pest management.

A workshop focused on how to manage insect and slug populations with beneficial predators will be offered December 10 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Northwest State Community College (22600 State Route 34, Archbold, Ohio 43502. Presenters include Dr. Curtis Young of Ohio State University Extension, Van Wert County and Dr. John Tooker of Penn State University. Beef Quality Assurance Training Available on December 6

Capture more value from your market cattle and learn best management practices for your operation by becoming BQA certified on Monday, December 6 at 7:00 p.m.. Training will also count for recertification. Williams County 4-H/FFA beef exhibitors may attend as part of Ohio Youth Food Animal Quality Assurance requirement.

Fulton County Offering ‘Snowbird’ Pesticide Applicator Training on November 18

OSU Extension Fulton County is hosting a fertilizer and private pesticide applicator recertification meeting on Thursday, November 18 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at 8770 SR 108, Wauseon for those flying south for the winter. Categories CORE, 1, 2, 6, and 15 (fertilizer) will be offered and videos will be available for specialty categories. No commercial credits will be offered. Cost is $10 for fertilizer; $35 for pesticide; and $45 for both. Note, this course fee is separate from the $30 renewal fee payable to the Ohio Department of Agriculture.
