Year in Review

[ “Year in Review”  is where you should reflect on the past year and show how you have evolved as a person and as a student.  You may want to focus on your growth in a particular area (as a leader, scholar, researcher, etc.) or you may want to talk about your overall experience over the past year.  For more guidance on using your ePortfolio, including questions and prompts that will help you get started, please visit the Honors & Scholars ePortfolio course in Carmen. G.O.A.L.S.

G.O.A.L.S.: Global Awareness, Original Inquiry, Academic Enrichment, Leadership Development, Service Engagement

  • Global Awareness: I want to expand my understanding of other cultures and ideas outside what I grew up with. I am currently in a Study Abroad class of London Honors and plan to minor in Chinese to broaden my cultural understanding.
  • Original Inquiry: I plan to seek an internship in an on-campus research lab my sophomore year relating to my major of chemical engineering.
  • Academic Enrichment: I am studying to be a chemical engineer because I do not know how I want to use chemistry as a career yet. I plan to and am currently taking Honors General Chemistry my freshman year. I also plan to take Honors Organic Chemistry to further enrich my academics, along with interesting General Education classes outside of my major.
  • Leadership Development: I am currently involved in the student organization Off the Lakes Production, a student run theater organization. I just joined this year, but I hope to hold a leadership position for their stage crew within a couple of years.
  • Service Engagement: I am currently involved in the student organization Nourish International, a charity organization that focuses on bettering the lives of people in and from developing countries. Together, we work to help make our local and the international community a better place for everyone.
