Welcome and Overview: On behalf of the OSU Youth Violence Prevention Advisory Board, I would like to welcome you to our first annual conference, Promoting Community Safety and Preventing Violence: Integrating Lessons from Research and Practice. This conference provides an opportunity for participants to learn from each other about the latest knowledge on community safety and violence prevention issues. Each session was designed to include the perspectives of researchers and practitioners. The program also included several sessions that feature youths’ perspectives on crime and justice. The program featured local and nationally recognized speakers including five distinguished lecturers who graciously made time to travel to Columbus, Ohio to be with us on June 26, 2009. If you missed the conference, you can watch video footage from more than a dozen conference sessions on our OSUCSI YouTube channel. We would appreciate your feedback.
