This picture is from a camping vacation I took summer before my freshmen year of college. It was so refreshing to leave technology behind and truly take in the scenery.

Year in Review

This semester has been different to what I thought it would be. Going into classes I was nervous about what to expect, but my high school classes prepared me well for college and I was more prepared for the topics covered than I thought. Meeting new people has been refreshing, but harder than I thought it would be. I had to join clubs and am planning to rush next semester to involve myself even more and meet more people. It has been a good start to college, but more challenging. College is 24/7 and I had to learn to make time for myself to balance both my mental health. I learned the importance of balancing physical and mental health and know when to stop and take a break. I am excited for what next semester has in store.

G.O.A.L.S.

I chose to become a biological scholars student because I wanted to be surrounded by a community of similar goal minded people and expose myself to opportunities relating to the biological field. I am determined and willing to take advantage of new opportunities and learn from them. It takes people who want to be successful in their career to be a successful scholar. People who are determined and want to make a difference in their future career goals. The G.O.A.L.S statement encompasses global awareness, original inquiry, academic enrichment, leadership development and service engagement. I want to travel the world and use my skills and knowledge to help those around the world. I want to be a leader in my field and develop new skills and technique to benefit many. Global awareness is essential to learning and being open to a variety of cultures. An original inquiry and academic enrichment are necessary to expand interest in various topic and pursue an interest. Leadership development and service engagement is necessary to give back to the community.

I attended the OSU men’s soccer game the first week I was here. It was a great way to kick start my college career and meet new people. It was so interesting to see how involved the surrounding community is with Ohio State.

About Me

Hello! My name is Savannah White. I am from Aurora, Illinois and am a biomedical engineer in the biological sciences scholars program at Ohio State University. I am interested in pursuing a career in the medical field and develop new devices that assist people. I volunteered at a hospital for two years during high school and that was where I developed my interest in the medical field. Being in a hospital environment, helping people every week really intrigued me. Outside of school, I am an avid traveler and love hiking, skiing and visiting new places. I am excited for what the future holds!
