My First Week at OSU

As an incoming freshman at OSU I was most excited about all of the opportunities the school has to offer me. I feel like at such a massive university with so many professors, faculty, students there are so many different people I can learn from. There are also so many opportunities for me to get involved in research in my field in the coming years at OSU which is something I look forward to a lot. Starting classes this year was a step in that direction. I wasn’t exactly scared or intimidated at all starting the school year. This is probably because I’ve had experience at this school having a full schedule here my senior year of Highschool. I know my way around the campus and around Columbus itself so I wasn’t really worried about anything in that sense. The only anxieties I had about starting school was how overwhelmed i would inevitably be this semester. I’m taking 17 credit hours and working to support my education so I have a lot on my plate.

This week has been exactly what I expected it to be to be honest. I have much to do, lots of deadlines already lined up, and the pressure is high in nearly all of my classes as they are all important ones. There have been a few moments of very high stress during the past week having to do with getting everything sorted out in the midst of beginning to learn content but I think I am doing pretty well staying as organized as possible while still learning and soaking up as much information as I can at the same time. It’s been a tiring week but I love school and new what to expect coming in.

My expectations for the “OSU Experience” are quite high in the sense that I want to get as much out of the school as possible. I want to take advantage of everything it has to offer. In terms of the Humanities Scholars Program my expectations have more to do with making connections and forming something of a community at OSU. I am a Biochemistry major first and foremost but I love humanities and I’m planning on getting a classics minor during my time here at OSU. I’m excited to get to know people interested in humanities as a science and the learn from the people that I meet!
