Artifact #1: While I was in high school, my dad gave me a copy of the poem “If” by Rudyard Kipling. I’ve kept a copy of it with me since. I think about the meaning of the poem whenever I’m feeling stressed or in a difficult situation. I approach many of the problems of life with the poem in mind, including academic ones. Many problems can be tackled by simply keeping calm and starting from the beginning, and this poem has helped me do that. It helped me navigate the problems of high school and will continue to help me navigate the problems of college.
Artifact #2: This is a Pop! Vinyl figurine of T-51 power armor from the Fallout game series. I bought it recently and I feel that it is a proper embodiment of how I like to spend my free time. Getting lost in a good story in games is something I really enjoy doing. I really enjoy immersing myself in a different world for a brief period of time. I’d say that it can be a lot like reading a book when you truly get lost in the details of the world before you. This is something that I find very important. It’s what helps me recharge to tackle my problems.
