G.O.A.L.S

SMART goals are goals that are specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-sensitive. I believe that setting goals are important to success in all fields of life, and that is why I have made two SMART goals that I plan to implement now and continue throughout second semester.

The first SMART goal I have is to remain active in college. To achieve this I will make sure that I am working out at least 3 times a week for 30 minute increments. I was very active before college, however I feel I have been less active since classes started. Exercise is important to academic success; it is a great way to relieve stress and lately I have only been going to the gym once a week. Not working out causes me to feel tired and sluggish, and the stress of coursework on top of that has caused me to fall into an unhealthy trap. Going to the gym 3 times a week for 30 mins is a specific goal that I can keep track of in my planner. It is attainable because it is something I was already doing at home, this goal is relevant to my well being and it is time-sensitive over the rest of the semester and next semester.

Another SMART goal I will work on achieving involves lab reports and time management. This semester I have struggled to complete my lab reports early and it has caused me extreme success on Tuesday nights before my labs on Wednesday. My goal is to finish the lab reports over the weekend and leave Monday and Tuesday to ask questions and make edits. This specific, time-sensitive goal will be relevant to helping control my stress, and ensure that I will not be scrambling to get the report done. This goal is attainable because it is simply making better use of my time.
