About Me

Hello! My name is Selena Weaver, and I am currently a first-year majoring in Chemistry at The Ohio State University. I grew up in the small village of West Liberty, Ohio where I graduated from West Liberty-Salem High School in 2021. My high school teacher first ignited my passion for Chemistry through our conversations inside and outside the classroom. I find it to be a fascinating branch of science that serves to bridge the physical and natural sciences.

Eventually, I plan to apply to medical school and obtain my MD. I would potentially like to work in rural and underprivileged communities deprived of immediate access to medical care because of distance or financial burdens.

In my first semester of college, I have gotten involved in a few groups on campus. I am an Eminence Fellow, a scholarship cohort that works to impact the Columbus community through service. We are currently working on researching community needs and brainstorming potential service projects. Additionally, I am a member of A Kid Again; this organization hosts fun family events for chronically ill children and their families.

Next semester I plan to get more involved on campus through research and clubs. I spent my first semester acclimating to my new life at Ohio State, but I have grown accustomed to the lifestyle and I am excited to see what else the university has to offer me. In my free time, I like to go rock climbing at the Adventure Recreation Center (RAC) and spend nights reading with my friends. I love meeting people and hope to spend the next four years forming relationships.
