PSL Peer Mentor Interview (Siena Schuth)

On Friday, September 7, 2018, I interviewed my PSL Peer Mentor. Below is a synthesized account of who my Peer Mentor is:

Siena Schuth is one of my Peer Mentor for the 2018-19 PSL school year. She is 19 years old, born on March 19th, 1999 in Chicago, Illinois (Lemont). Before arriving at THE Ohio State University, Siena attended Lemont High School. When it came time to search for colleges, she never expected Ohio State to be her fit. In fact, when Siena first thought about what she wanted in a college, she believed a small college was the best. After visiting Miami of Ohio, taking advice from her father’s boss, she managed to visit all of the big name Ohio school eventually landing at tOSU. Reflecting on her visit, Siena loved what Ohio State offered as a massive state college. This shifted her view to B1G schools but in the end, Ohio State won her heart and at last, she decided to attend the greatest college Earth has to offer, making her the first in her family to hold the honorary title of Buckeye.

Here at Ohio State, Siena is majoring in Economics and Finance and minoring in Spanish. While she doesn’t have an exact career in mind she does have an idea; Siena wants to deal with advising with a non-profit international company and work in a corporate setting. As far as student involvement goes, she is Peer Mentor for PSL and she is the Fund Raising director for the Boo Radley Society. Siena joined PSL Scholars as she believed that she may find herself seeking a political role and she knew that PSL would be a great opportunity to network when she came to Ohio State. During her time thus far at Ohio State, she has found that her best experiences come when she is spending time with her friends. She also finds herself in awe with the vast beauty of the Columbus campus on many of the runs she does.

When asked what her top three things on her bucket list were, she first told about her ambition to hike through Europe. Next on the list would be to hike at least one of the continental mountain regions within the United States such as the Rockies or the Appalachian Mountain trails. Finally, she wants to eventually host a radio show so that she could publicly display all her favorite tunes. If given the opportunity to travel anywhere in the world, Siena would backpacks through Italy where she could visit the Italian town in which she was named after.

When asked if she could travel through time, where and when would it be, Siena exclaimed that she would definitely travel back to 1969 to the Woodstock Music Festival where she would immerse herself in the culture and most importantly mingle with all the hippies!

The people that have made the biggest impact in her life and are absolute role models to her are her parents. She values their dedication to providing and looking out for her as well as other.

FINALLY, it comes down to what may be the greatest question of the entire interview: Do you identify with Left or Right Twix and why? Siena confidently answered that she clearly identifies with Left Twix as she believes they have the underdog factor. She notes that Left Twix is very underrated as folks generally side with Right Twix over the personal connection of being right-handed.

Listed below are a few miscellaneous favorites of Siena Schuth:

Band: Green Day and the Beatles
Movie: Farris Bueller’s Day Off
TV Show: Parks and Recreation
Book: Lightning by Kootz

Ice-cream Flavor: Peanut Butter Cookie Dough
Card Game: Rummy
Board Game: Sorry

Thank you to my Peer Mentor, Siena Schuth, for letting me interview her and being a great interviewee!
