Sensory Abstraction

Defining an Experience with Elements and Principles/ Iterations

Objective

Combine what you have learned in the semester (elements and principles, form, color, pattern and scale) and abstract an experience onto a square poster. Use both 3D and 2D elements.

Reflection

I had the viewer in mind when I created this concept. It began as an abstract way to show how those who have ADHD are naturally hypersensitive to senses and what they feel when their ‘ADHD pet peeve’ is bothering them. I was thinking too broad though, so I narrowed it down to the sound of eating (a very common ‘ADHD pet peeve’). In retrospect, I should’ve been more confident with my abstracted poster having a purpose. I didn’t make it a priority to explain the intent behind it when discussing with others due to being self conscious about the subject. I’m really proud of this poster having a purpose that it is designed to serve. Going forward, I learned that I needed to start embracing the efforts I put into projects that took project constraints and gave them that extra sense of purpose.
