Color and Pattern

Color Study and Iterations of Patterns

Objective

Use a set of constraints you made for yourself to create one asymmetrical and one symmetrical design pulled from the structure and natural patterns from objects in nature. Use and study color theory then apply what you have learned to the constraints you set in place.

Final

Reflection

For my constraints, I focused on the idea to make my symmetrical design (right) have muted colors and my asymmetrical design (left) to have bright and energetic colors. The symmetrical design gives off a stable and calming feeling and the asymmetrical design feels energetic and spontaneous. This project taught me that it’s okay to not like your first 5 or your first 15 iterations and it doesn’t mean that you’re failing. Moving forward, I tried to force myself to be more open to pushing myself out of my comfort zone.
