GINDRAOBETAKS

Skateboarding

In Nacirema a skilled mode of transportation around an institution called egelloc. The Gindraobetaks is rode to look cool until one of the Nacirema falls. A dangerous way to travel but used frequently around an egelloc.

RETOOCS

Scooter

This more common mode of transportation in Nacirema would be the retoocs. The institution called egelloc makes their people exchange yenom the motorized device made for easy access.

This mode of transportation been listed as dangerous because of defaults in abilities to make appropriate turns. They have also been known to be hit by racs while riding. The process to exchange yenom is a time consumer unless the transaction is already available.

RIA AFOS

Air Sofa

To find some peace or rest their eyes some of the people who live near or in a building at the egelloc purchase portable beds. They use air and will sleep in the middle of an area that people will hang out for long periods of time at the institution.

HCTEF

Fetch

In Nacirema people enjoy domesticated animals and calling them step. They entertain and take care of the animals needs like food, water, and a basic need for the Nacirema called pihsnonapmoc. A form of entertain is called chtef where a ball is thrown in a stick instrument to influence the animal to run and retrieve the ball.

SENOHPDAEH

Headphones

These allow the person wearing them to hear instruments without seeing any. They call it cisum and sgnos that can influence mood and emotion. Many of the Nacirema use these to disconnect in large groups of people and while walking to their destination on the institutions land called a supmac.

Reflection

This challenge made me uncomfortable with having to take picture of people in a natural way. The idea of trying to create a different perspective of how we use these everyday items was difficult. That is the point to think outside of our own culture box. To be able to look at others with less of a stigma to other culture ways of doing everyday things. You must put reflexivity into use when we think about how we operate our everyday lives by having to write about everyday items as if we have never used them before. To put aside any current information about the subject and giving a realistic outside perspective without judgment or bias.

This had a small impact due to changes, technologies and inventors growing and creating new things. I have experienced a new item and it seems foreign to me until I learn about it and study it. I see this as the mindset I should have when approaching anything new or foreign to me. That would be a revelation I have came to realize through this challenge. I have the natural will to observe and learn new things without passing judgment or making assumptions of the culture.

The learning outcomes would be methodological approach where I entered myself into the environment and observed as an outside source. Aware of what I was observing and having an unclear/unknown concept of the Culture. This leads to reflexivity and being able to put aside any judgment and observations of someone not from this culture. In ways of how institutions work from an outside perspective gave me a new view of a holistic perspective. The way a college as an institution has influence whether it is good or bad on students who attend. The institutions system and process influences students’ everyday lives to live, travel (around campus/to classes), and receive basic needs. To see this and realize the underlining operation is an influence from most of the learning outcomes that we have learned.
