Advanced R&D Battery Test

  • The above graph shows the charge of a single battery used to power the AEV over the course of three trials. The AEV used .015 volts for every 99.83 inches traveled. This number can be used to calculate the expected energy cost for our final project.
  • The ability to calculate the expected energy cost will allow us to more accurately estimate the total cost of the AEV which will help minimize the total cost.

Advanced R&D Energy Analysis

  • We found that the force of the propeller was 3 times the force of friction which allows for deceleration when coasting to be less effective than acceleration when powered
  • Coasting can be shone to save a lot of energy compared to using the batter
  • This will impact the teams thoughts as they prepare the AEV, a decisions will have to be made about when the benefits of coasting are countered by the loss of speed.
