Year in Review

[ “Year in Review”  is where you should reflect on the past year and show how you have evolved as a person and as a student.  You may want to focus on your growth in a particular area (as a leader, scholar, researcher, etc.) or you may want to talk about your overall experience over the past year.  For more information, go to: http://honors-scholars.osu.edu/e-portfolio. Global Awareness: I have been a member of two international missions teams that have traveled to Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, and intend on continuing our work there. I also plan on studying abroad in Spain to improve my comprehension of the language and culture there. Using these skills, I hope to one day have a career that allows me to make a difference in the lives of those at home and around the world.

Original Inquiry: An area of research that particularly intrigues me is the study of depression and how it develops and affects individuals, especially children and young adults. There are many ongoing projects in this field at OSU and I hope to be a member of a team soon. The experiences and knowledge I gain from research will prepare me for independent research I hope to start someday.
Academic Enrichment: In my major, I will be able to prepare for the previously mentioned research by studying those areas in the classroom. Using resources made available to me by the honors program, I will engage in rigorous course work to prepare me for medical school and the challenges that come with it.
Leadership Development: My involvement in the Ohio State Athletic Band and some of the student organizations here on campus will help me develop the skills and the qualities I have that make a good leader. In the future, I want to be a figure that younger students can come to to help with any aspects of their life, so that they too can learn and grow through the same opportunities I have available to me now.
Service Engagement: Clinical Volunteering has always been something that I have been interested in, but I have not had it available to me until now. I intend to spend much of my time in local hospitals and health centers, to learn more about th work they do and find ways for me to help others in my community.

Career

Artifacts

[Artifacts are the items you consider to be representative of your academic interests and achievements.
