About Me

Hello, my name is Thomas Waters. I am a first year undergraduate student currently studying engineering within the STEM EE scholars program. I chose to apply for STEM scholars because of my interest within the math and science fields. I entered the university as an engineering undeclared student and I am hoping to decide on a specific engineering path by the end of this academic year. I currently have the most interest in pursuing a major in chemical engineering.

I grew up in Lakewood, Ohio which is just outside of Cleveland on the shores of Lake Erie. Throughout high school, I took great interest in both my math and science classes. However, it was when I took a BC calculus course that I realized my passion for problem solving. I chose engineering for a major in hopes to takes the skills that I’ve learned and developed in math and science and apply them to real world problems.

Outside of academics I love sports. I enjoy playing and watching them as well as reading about them in all forms. I love competition in general so for me it doesn’t matter what sport I’m following I enjoy them all. Although I enjoy a wide range of sports my favorite is soccer. I am currently on the indoor club soccer team here at the university as well as an intramural team.

As far as career paths go I am still looking to find what I might enjoy doing. I hope to answer this question through my time in the STEM EE scholars program and through my time as an undergraduate student in pre-engineering. This E-portfolio is a collection of my experiences and growth during my time at the university.
