As the semester is coming to an end, it is time to reflect on my experience with this course. After 7 weeks of different topics that we covered in class, there are several that I found to be insightful and important. One topic I want to focus and reflect on is technology itself! Since the world is constantly evolving and changing around us, one thing that will also continue to change is technology. From databases that have thousands of articles and books to web-based learning and supplemental tools, I have learned that technology gives us several tools that can help us to succeed in our college career and our future career! There are even online websites that can help you set your goals and manage your time better.
One thing that I have learned about myself is that learning to manage my time better will help me to succeed with goals that are both big and small. After looking at the time tracking and time management, I realized that I wasn’t utilizing my time as well as I should. This is an important tool that will greatly help me now and in the future. I also realized that my assumption that is don’t procrastinate was wrong. After taking the time management self assessment, it was clear to me that there is room for improvement. Having taken this course in the summer has not only prepared me for the upcoming year, but I have learned how to better set my goals! It is so important to know yourself and stay motivated so that you can succeed and accomplish your goals.
The most meaningful experience in this course was being able to learn more about myself. Often times, courses don’t allow or even ask for you to reflect on the material. Although get a good education is so important, it is equally important to know yourself. Learning what your strengths and weaknesses are will help you to set expectation and goals. Everything that was covered in this course in some way was connected to the individual. An example is writing blog posts that encourage you to share what you learned from the material and give you the opportunity to share important points with your peers.
As a part of my reflection, some things that I plan on applying in the future is learning to set better goals, ways to stay motivated, and better time management. The first step into successfully accomplishing a goal is to set one and the steps you planning on taking to accomplish that goal. Although it requires effort, I have learned from this course that it is completely worth it! I also plan on using some motivational tools to help me stay motivated throughout the school year. I realized that setting myself up for success is easier than I thought. Little things like starting the project when you get it or setting 30 minutes aside everyday before the due date can relieve stress and a lack of motivation. Looking back at some of the goals and projects I set forth for myself, I was making it hard for me to accomplish them because I was not using my time wisely, waiting until last minute and allowing myself to get distracted. Overall this course has taught me so much and I regret not taking this class at the start of my college career because it was motivating, informative, and uplifting!
