State Achievement Form Workshop – Nov 14

On November 14, 2020, Teen Leadership Council will be hosting their second Achievement Form Workshop on Zoom from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

This workshop is specifically for those teens who have already started/previously completed their Achievement Record Form and would like feedback. Teens who RSVP will receive individualized coaching from individuals who are experienced and have had success in submitting their Achievement Record at the state level.

This will be three one-hour sessions – teens can choose to attend 1, 2 or all 3.

Jr Fairboard Applications Due – Nov 30

Applications for the Washington County Junior Fairboard and Barlow Junior Fairboard are now open to youth ages 13 and up. Membership is open to youth that are currently a member of 4-H, FFA, FCCLA, Girl Scouts or Boy Scouts. Applications are available from the Ohio State University Extension office located at 202 Davis Avenue, Marietta or the website: http://www.go.osu.edu/wcforms

The Junior Fairboard provides youth an opportunity to plan and conduct local fairs with other youth from the county. Junior Fairboard members are responsible for a wide variety of events, activities, and shows as well as to work closely with local Senior Fairboard members.

All applications must be received in the OSU Extension Office by Monday, November 30. Interviews for 1st & 2nd Year Applicants will be held Monday, December 7 between 6:00 – 8 pm. Interviews can be scheduled at https://go.osu.edu/jfbinterview

Ohio 4-H is seeking input from you to help us design virtual programming that would be specific to ages 13-19. We know that during a time of distance learning and modified 4-H programs, that there are many new opportunities to explore! Ohio 4-H Teen Leadership Council Applications Due Aug 14

Ohio 4-H Teen Leadership Council (TLC) applications for the 2020-2021 year are now available! Please let any interested individual know, so they may apply! Please note, because it is only a one year term, current TLC members who wish to continue their service must re-apply.

Applications and more information for this group are now available online at: go.osu.edu/TLC. Please note applications (and other materials, including letters of recommendation) are due (not postmarked; received!) by Friday, August 14, 2020. We recognize this falls during some county fairs, so encourage teens to apply early! We will accept applications as early as today!  The term for selected individuals will be September 1, 2020-August 31, 2021.

Ohio 4-H Sea Camp Seeking Camp Counselors

Ohio 4-H Sea Camp is recruiting positive role models to serve as camp counselors and staff for this summer! Sea Camp is held from July 11-15, 2020 at Erie County 4-H Camp Kelleys Island. Mandatory on-site training for volunteers and counselors begins on July 10.

If you:

  • Are at least age 18 as of July 11, 2020;
  • Have the week of July 10-15, 2020 available to spend on Kelleys Island;
  • Are enthusiastic in working with teenage youth in a camp setting;
  • Have previous experience as a camp counselor (recommended, not required);
  • Look forward to aquatic discovery and exploration in and around the waters of Lake Erie;
  • Enjoy outdoor recreation such as boating, fishing, kayaking, sailing, and other new adventures…

Then:

  • Being a Camp Counselor at Sea Camp is a perfect fit for you!

Ohio 4-H Sea Camp is held July 11-15 at Erie County 4-H Camp on Kelleys Island. Counselors will arrive on Friday, July 10 for training and must be available for the duration of camp.

For those of you unfamiliar with Kelleys Island, there is a ferry that travels to and from the island! Staff members will need to drive or arrange transportation to/from Lakeside Marblehead ferry dock.

Camp activities include: water and sun safety, aquatic science, water navigation skills, boating education, swimming, snorkeling, fishing, career exploration, teambuilding challenges, and so much more! Housing for all staff and campers is traditional cabins with bunks.

If you are interested in applying to be a counselor, please complete the following steps and send ALL documentation by April 1 to the Coshocton County OSU Extension Office (724 S. 7th Street, Room 110, Coshocton, OH 43812) :

  • Complete the application
  • Sign Standards of Behavior
  • Sign 4-H Camp Counselor Code of Conduct
  • Have two references complete a referral for you

Maybe being a camp counselor isn’t for you, but you are interested in being involved in camp in another way!

For individuals interested in serving as an adult staff member and/or instructor to Ohio 4-H Sea Camp, please visit: https://ohio4h.org/camp/sea-camp and select the option that is most appropriate for your interest. “Volunteer Staff” include adults who are on-site for the duration of camp and serve as instructors and program support throughout the week. “Guest Instructors” are volunteers who would be at camp for teaching a particular topic for one or two days of camp programming.
