4-H Scholarship Winners Annouced

The Ohio State University Extension of Washington County is pleased to announce the winners of the annual 4-H College Scholarship Awards. Each applicant must be a high school senior or college freshman who have been a 4-H member for at least three years.

Funding for the scholarship awards is provided by the Washington County 4-H Endowment Committee through funds housed at Marietta Community Foundation.

Three winners receiving $500 scholarships are:

  • Dallas Bolen, daughter of Milsah Bolen and Darren Bolen, is a member of CARTEENS and Oak Grove Explorers 4-H Clubs. Dallas is a senior at Marietta High School and plans to major in biochemistry at Marietta College.
  • Anna Holschuh, daughter of Bill and Pam Holschuh, and a member of Oak Grove Explorers 4-H Club. Anna will graduate from Marietta High School. In the fall, she plans to attend West Virginia University and study biochemistry and pre-dental.
  • Elizabeth Loughry, daughter of Timothy and Cassandra Loughry, is a member Oak Grove Explorers and will graduate from Marietta High School. Elizabeth plans to attend Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University working toward a degree in aerospace engineering.

Four winners receiving $250 scholarships are:

  • Jaslynn Casto, daughter of Heather and Jason Casto, plans to attend Ohio University and pursue an early education degree. She will graduate from Fort Frye High School and is a member of the Churchtown Community Crew 4-H Club.
  • Melina Matics is a first-year radiology student at Washington State College of Ohio. Her parents are Jeff and Sloane Matics, and she is a past member of CARTEENS and Oak Grove Explorers 4-H Clubs and current 4-H volunteer.
  • Sam Milazzo is a member of the Bull’s Eye Shooting Sports 4-H Club and attends Warren High School. He plans to use the scholarship to purchase books, tools, supplies, and to pay school fees.
  • Ericka Schultheis plans to attend University of Pittsburgh to become an athletic trainer. She is the daughter of Rob and Lori Schultheis and a member of the Backyard Gang 4-H Club.
