4-H Club Officer Training – Monday, March 28

Mark your calendar to attend the 4-H Club Officer Training on Monday, March 28 at the Jr Fair Building on the County Fairgrounds at 7:00 pm.  We will have sessions for:

  • General Session for everyone on completing County Award Applications
  • Review of meeting motions and voting
  • President/Vice President
  • Secretary/News Reporter
  • Scrapbook/Historian
  • Treasurer
  • Health & Safety/Community Service
  • Recreation

March 26 – SEOPA Spring Poultry Show

Stop down and discover the world of fancy poultry! The SEOPA will be holding their annual poultry show March 26th at the Washington County fairgrounds. Starts at 9:00 am and there will be showmanship, an egg decorating contest, and admission is free!  Contact Colleen Michaels 740-213-7841 for more information.

Ohio Farm Bureau’s ExploreAg

Ohio Farm Bureau’s signature ag literacy and workforce development program, ExploreAg, offers free week- and day-long immersion programs for high school students. In ExploreAg, teens learn about agriculture and related STEM fields from industry experts, scientists, and educators. Participants visit producers like Smuckers, manufacturers like John Deere, and research laboratories at OSU; develop their leadership and collaboration skills; and prepare for college and career.

  • ATI – June 26 – July 1
  • University of Findlay – July 10-15

ExploreAg 2022 Weekend Camps:

  • Central State University – July 22-24
  • OSU Columbus campus – July 29-31
  • Hocking College – Aug. 4-7

OSU – ATI Open House

Ohio State CFAES Wooster’s open houses are a great way to get to know about the programs offered. The final spring session is Saturday, April 9. Registration is available here.

The program will include:

  • Discover a world of academic possibilities at CFAES Wooster.
  • Learn more about the application process and scholarship opportunities.
  • Take a tour of campus and learn more about the Buckeye experience at Ohio State CFAES Wooster.
  • Get answers to your questions from admissions staff.

If youth can’t make it, the CFAES Wooster Admissions team has other opportunities available and can be viewed at ati.osu.edu/visit.

Fairy Garden and Horticulture Expertise is Available

Do you have an interest or members in your club about learning how to plant a fairy garden or growing plants? The Barlow Blue Bells Garden Club is interested in presenting club programs or working with members that are taking plant and gardening projects.

Quality Assurance Session #1 – March 14 at Waterford High School

March 14 from 7-9 pm at Waterford High School is the first QA session. Members planning to take market livestock and lactating dairy cattle/goats projects and a parent/guardian must attend a Livestock Quality Assurance training in order to participate in Jr Fair events, shows and sales at the fairs. Members may attend a QA session in any Ohio county, the member must still be accompanied by an adult.

Test-out Option – Youth ages 12-14 and 15-18 may participate.  The test will be offered after each QA session. Pre-registration is requested by calling the Extension Office at 740-376-7431

4-H Open House – Thanks Everyone!!

Thank you everyone for the awesome 4-H Open House on Tuesday night. We appreciate the volunteers working the activities and all the families that attended! We had over 170 participants plus our volunteer workers!
