Ohio 4-H Sea Camp – Returning in 2020

After taking a year off, Ohio 4-H Sea Camp will be returning to the line-up of 4-H Trip Opportunities for 2020. This and other trips can be found at:  https://washington.osu.edu/program-areas/4-h-youth-development/washington-county-4-h-forms

Applications are due October 14. Here is a complete list of trips for 2020:

  • Buckeye Leadership Workshop – Recreation Unlimited, Ashley, OH. March. Age 16 or high school sophomore.
  • State 4-H Leadership Camp – 4-H Camp Ohio, early June. Must be age 14 as of Jan 1st.
  • 4-H Citizenship-Washington Focus – National 4-H Center, Washington DC. June/July. Must be age 14 as of Jan 1st.
  • 4-H Leadership-Washington Focus – National 4-H Center, Washington DC. July. Youth entering grades 7 – 9.
  • 4-H Sea Camp – Kelleys Island, July, Must be ages 15-15
  • Ohio 4-H Sr. Shooting Education Camp – Canters Cave 4-H Camp, Jackson, OH. July. Must be ages 12 – 18.
  • Ohio 4-H Jr. Shooting Education Camp – Canters Cave 4-H Camp, Jackson, OH. July. Must be age 9 – 12.
  • Space Adventure Camp – Marietta College. June. Youth ages 11-13 and/or grades 7 – 9.

Interstate Exchange Club looking for new members!

WASHINGTON COUNTY INTERSTATE EXCHANGE 4-H CLUB is looking for new members to join them.  This is a travel club that is open to any Washington County 4-H’er in good standing with another 4-H club.  Members must be 12 years old to host and 13 years old to travel.  The club completed an exchange with a 4-H club from Wyoming this summer.  While here, the club went to King’s Island, Dayton Airshow, high ropes course, mystery shack, Old Man’s Cave, The Wild’s,Trumpet in the Land outdoor drama, Sewah Studio tour, Blennerhassett Island, and lots of eating and games.  In June 2018 the club traveled to Wyoming.  Past exchanges have included Montana, Kansas, and Wisconsin.  If you would like more information please contact club advisor Ellie Tullius by email, text, or phone.  tulliuse@gmail.com, 740-434-3064, or 740-984-4744.  This is a great way to expand your 4-H experience.  If interested please respond by Oct. 1st.

October 14 – Member’s application due to Extension Office.

October 21 – Awards Selection Committee reviews applications and selects 4-H Project Pin and Special Pin Award Winners.

October 21 – Trip Committee interviews applicants and selects winners for 4-H Trips and Margaret Meredith award.

November 14 – 4-H Year Celebration begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Washington County Career Center. Award Applications are returned to all applicants.

4-H Shooting Sports Kicks Off October 6

4-H Shooting Sports Program starts its fall session at 1:00 pm, Sunday, October 6 at Hervida 4-H Camp. Youth ages 9-19 are welcome to join in the fun while learning the basic skills of a shooting sports discipline. Choose from archery, pistol, rifle, shotgun, and/or living history. All shooting equipment and supplies are provided. Pen Tear Down (Sept 8) at County Fair – Attendance Required

All 2019 Livestock members showing animals at the Washington County Fair are required to attend Pen Set up or tear down at the Washington County Fairgrounds.

– Members whose last name falls between letters M to Z need to attend Pen tear down on Sept. 8 at 3pm.

Sign out sheets will be provided when set up or tear down is complete. Any junior exhibitor not signing out will forfeit 20% of their total sales. See Rule number 32 in the Junior Fair Activities Guide for details.

Carving New Ideas Workshop for Youth 8-12th Grade – Reg Due Oct 28

CNI is open to 8th-12th grade 4-H members, Carving New Ideas is a camping opportunity for older youth, concentrating on the principles of critical thinking and program facilitation. This year’s theme is CSI at CNI. All the fun will center around mystery and investigation while enhancing leadership skills.

Interested in attending? The Washington County 4-H Advisory Committee has funds to help cover registration costs. Youth will be reimbursed after registering for the event. The committee has $150 to divide among registrants.
