Have you register yet for 4-H Camp? Junior and Senior Campers have to opportunity to pre-register for classes. Campers will have three morning classes and camp will automatically be enrolled in a nature class. Basic Cooking | Learn basic cooking techniques, including measuring, reading a recipe, and making simple dishes. |
Cake/Cupcake Decorating | Practice design techniques and then decorate cupcakes |
Camp Dances | Learn how to do the line and mixer dances that will be done during evening recreation. |
Camp Newspaper/Slideshow | Write, edit, layout and publish the official camp newspaper, “The Hervida Herald”. Take pictures and help create the slide show for Thursday night. Bring your own digital camera, which can be stored in the staff cabin when not being used for class. Or use a provided digital camera. |
Crafts | Make a variety of craft projects, some will relate to our camp theme. |
Ceramics | Paint ceramic pieces. Learn the finer techniques of ceramic painting from a ceramic professional. Make a gift for someone special! |
Electricity Basics | Use Snap Circuits to assemble different electronic circuits. Learn about electricity, volts, circuits, amps, resistance, switches and other electronic designs. Build a flying saucer, doorbell, alarm and more |
Fishing | Bait hooks and fish in the creek at Camp Hervida |
Drone Challenge | Learn how to fly Tello Drones. Fuel your passion for technology and learn about aerodynamics, laws of physics, mapping, cinematography |
Hiking | Hike the beautiful trails of Camp Hervida and learn about the trees and other plants on the trails. |
In the Creek | Explore the creek and learn what is living in the camp creek, explore the hidden world of wetlands, and the over lapping habitat types known as exotones. Bring old shoes or boots. |
Pottery | Make a pinch pot and other pottery items using self-hardening clay and pottery artist tools |
Rifle | Learn the safe handling of rifles and basic target shooting skills. Participants will begin instruction with .177 pellet air rifles and possibly advance to .22 rimfire rifles. Class is taught by a certified 4-H Shooting Sports Instructor. |
Swim | Learn some pool games and have fun swimming |
Wood Burning | Master the art of wood burning and make a few projects |
Woodworking | Learn basic wood working skills |
