MODULE 7 BLOG: Final Reflection Blog Post

  • How would you describe your knowledge and skills at the beginning of the course vs. at the end of the course? At the beginning of the course my knowledge was not too aware on properly taking notes and interacting and learning how to be more confident online. My skills were very little, I knew how to work certain things online. At the end of the course my knowledge became more wide on working through the internet, how to talk to people, and  to cut distractions since you are at home. However, at the end I learned how not only to work online but communicate online with others properly and also, how to block out distractions.
  • What are the most important, useful, or interesting things you learned? I think the most important thing that I learned was how to communicate with people online because some things can be misread. You may think one thing but someone else thinks another way. Something that is useful is learning how to have self motivation and knowing what is distracting you. Something that is interesting is learning your how you work rather you are a visual or verbal learner and adjusting so you can get the information.
  • What have you learned about yourself? I have learned that it is very hard for me to get over my procrastination but I also have good self-motivation that kind of takes over my procrastination.
  • What was your most meaningful experience in the course? Why? My most meaningful experience was actually creating the blog page. I say that because at first I did not care to do the blogs but as we did more and more blogs things seem to getting better because writing is something that I enjoy. So, it is actually something that turned out better than I expected plus the blogs are opinionated.
  • How will you apply what you learned in this class in the future? I will apply how I conversant with people. That is something that always been important but also, how you approach and talk through the internet because people can not see how you feel so you have to make sure how you get it across to others.
  • What are your parting words of advice to your readers/viewers/listeners? My advice to readers, viewers, and listeners are always have a planner, build self-motivation, and if you take any online course learn how to talk to your peers and instructors and make sure you can see your message from many different views.

MODULE 6 BLOG: Searching and Researching Blog Post

  • What is the most useful thing I learned in this module? The most useful thing that I have learned in this module was making sure my sources are creditable and reliable.
  • What is a specific example of something from this module I have already put into practice? How did it work out? Something that I already put into practice is scholarly search. It worked out to be pretty simple for the most part. The steps with finding one is not bad because the information is normally there.
  • What ideas from this module could I put into practice in the future? How? Some ideas from the module that I can put into practice is keeping track of the sources that I do find. Learning more about bibliographic mangers or reference.
  • What advice would I give to students (or working professionals), based on what I’ve read or experienced during this module? I would tell students to pay attention to all of the ways there is to cite sources. You need to know almost every way such as MLA, APA, Chicago style, and etc because everyone is different.

MODULE 5 ASSIGNMENT: Educational Videos

The overview topic that I will focus on is do we really see reality as it is. Basically, talks about how we view things and how people interrupt things different then others. Allowing you to look at a image and see a person face but someone else may see a cat or something. Which basically comes from the brain activity which allows you to see and believe that it is a tomato on the table but once you close your eyes you may see a apple but in reality it is a tomato. This video can enhance your learning because it have you consistently working on your brain, even when your working on someone else thoughts and what they see and how they see things, your brain is working also enhancing your learning.

MODULE 5 BLOG: Web-Enhanced Listening and Viewing Strategies Blog Post

What is the most useful thing I learned in this module? The most useful thing that I have learned in this class is taking notes properly.

What is a specific example of something from this module I have already put into practice? How did it work out? One thing that I have already put into practice is taking notes right, being able to break my notes down so they will not be all over the place. So, far it has been working out great. I break everything down by modules and write down the topic and go into more details on things instead off just writing down what I see.

What ideas from this module could I put into practice in the future? How? I believe learning from online videos is something I could put into practice in the future because I plan on taking more online classes. It gives you chances to re-watch the lectures, make sure you fully understand it, great for visual learners, and etc.

What advice would I give to students (or working professionals), based on what I’ve read or experienced during this module? Based on what I have read and learned in this module I would tell students to take great notes and use them outside of class. Do not just write them down and forget about them. Break your notes down also.

Module 4: blog web-enhanced reading and study strategy

The most useful thing from module 4 is being ready to be a active reader and also being able to know your distraction. That is the first step with things, finding out what is the problem if there is one. The first week of assignments when we had to use a voice thread. It was unexpected and also, we all had to figure out a good place to record which is considered figuring out the place that is a distraction to successfully complete the assignment. It worked out good for me, I know being in my house is a complete distraction but being in the bathroom isn’t. Plus before someone enter they would have to knock. Figuring out the main point and really understanding what you are reading. That is something people really can put into practice because I know many people that can read a book and barely tell me what it is about. You can read more tips on that in Module 4 under lesson. I would tell students to really understand what you are reading, about to read or anything. Gives you an advantage on what you are going into and also, be prepared.

MODULE 3 BLOG: Communicating and Collaborating Blog Post

The most useful thing I learned from this module is time management and communication is the most important thing. You have to learn how to talk and interact with people rather its through the internet or in person. I think the most important thing for me right now is sending an academic email properly. Since I am still in school, sending emailing to my instructor is very important . I have sent emails before but I never put any thought into it wondering if it was professional or not. The steps that was given in module 3 was very helpful and detailed. From how to introduce yourself the correct way and end the email the correct way and making sure I say things right so they will not come off wrong. I haven’t sent a email recently so I can talk about how it worked out but I think I have a better view on things and how to correctly approach my professors. I really can put the signature to practice in the future and now. I always notice professors signature but never thought they were important. I would tell students to pay attention how they interact and talk to people online through emails. That is really important because you never know how people view things so you have to be careful.

Communicating and Collaboration

I’ve learned a lot from this module on communication and collaboration. Effective communication is important because it directly impacts the behavior and response from people. These tips can help me now and in the near future with a job; teaching me how to answer the phone, try to understand and have less misunderstandings, not use all caps or exclamation marks and things that can spark a bad or angry vibe. I work at a call center so working over the phone and communicating with people is something important, Learning how to come off to others and communicate better. I can also put the email tips to use and create a professional email name and actually check my emails. I really recommend people to  always try to be professional as possible because you never know who you are interacting with. Also, having your email linked to your phone or something you check daily so you will not forget is a good thing too. You can be professional and still have a little free time.
