Year in Review

My first year of college experienced a 180 degree swerve. I entered college under the delusion that I, Audrey Wanstrath, would become a mechanical engineer and ultimately save the world. Two weeks in college level physics was enough to tell me that my destiny was not to use mathematics to help people, but to use another language, English. The pivotal moment was when I decided to be honest with myself. One week before my second semester I switched my undergraduate degree to English, and I have breathed easy ever since. I realized that language is beautiful, and without rhetoric, words would be useless. The tone, diction, occasion and style of communication is important in modern society, and I would love to always think about language in my life. Another pivotal moment in my freshman experience was when I joined a blog called O-Style. With 6 other OSU students I wrote articles on fashion, and I also participated in local fashion events. For example, the O-Style team hosted a local fashion show on campus! I am excited to see what comes of my sophomore year.

Passive Heating and Cooling

My group and I researched passive heating and cooling through the scholars program. Passive heating and cooling is used all around the world to improve the state of the plant. A solar chimney is one example of a fantastic innovation for heating in houses. My group and I discovered that green energy requires creativity. Some technologies work better in warm climates and vice versa. Passive Heating and Cooling is making a huge impact on the world.

About Me

Hello! My name is Audrey Wanstrath. I am a second year student at The Ohio State University. I am currently enrolled in both the Fisher College of Business and The School of Arts and Science. I hope to obtain a Bachelors Degree in Creative Writing and a Bachelors degree in International Business. My first goal is to maintain a 3.2 GPA throughout my duration at Ohio State. I also hope to get involved with service organizations here on campus. I am a part of the Green Engineering Scholars program. Through this program I have participated in a toy adaptation lab, performed service hours, and learned about the world of engineering. In high school I was awarded with the Presidential Service Award, and I would love to continue giving back. By the end of my sophomore year at Ohio State I hope to have an internship.
