The three types of documents I expect to be preparing professionally are Research Paper, an Engineering Feasibility Report, and a Test Protocol.
Oral presentations will be the predominant way that I will be displaying the work I have completed to my superiors. Also it will be the best way to convey any recommendations that I would find advantageous to the company as a whole.
In my future career I expect to communicate with my superiors, my peers, and my co-workers. For my superiors I would make sure that I communicated in a proper, experienced, and professional manner. For my peers and my coworkers I would still make sure that I communicated in a professional manner; however, it would be more casual and relaxed.
My appreciation for quality communication skills has increased since I first started here at OSU. This was mainly realized through a technical communication class I took last spring semester. This class gave me new ways to communicate effectively in a professional environment.
One assignment that shows my effective communication style is the Knowlton Energy Audit Report. This report shows how much energy Knowlton Hall uses annually and gives possible recommendations to decrease the annual usage. This report was turned into The Ohio State University’s Energy Services and Sustainability department, which consists of Engineers as well as Energy Sustainability Experts. This report is very similar to a Research Paper because they both require finding information and data through field work and performing calculations. In my professional field I expect to complete many Research Papers.
