Application’s Brain and Clothes
The application developer and the application’s user experience designer, the two of the best jobs given by PayScale, are both crucial to the success of an application in the market.
What are the criteria for most girls to choose boyfriends? I believe the outstanding ability and charming appearance are significant. Similarly, if users want to find a great application, it must be capable and attractive. These are application developers and application user designer’s works.
Application developer: create applications
As a student who is not really interested in codes and figures, an application developer is actually not a perfect job for me. Although I am good at math, algebra is not always my advantage. I am talented in spatial imagination and theories understanding. I can’t imagine that I spend all day and night inputting codes, these small and illegible
codes. The generous salary of an application developer, however, attracts people strongly. Averagely more than 70,000 dollars a year and the abundant positions for Chinese force many parents encouraging their boys to study computer science, including my mother. Besides, most of the demands of application developer are in the metropolis, like Washington, New York, and Chicago, where are filled with lots of companies and chances.
Application’s user experience designer: polish applications
Application’s user experience designer, a combination of technology and art, seems more suitable for me. If an application developer is the brain of an application, a user experience designer is attractive clothes. The user experience designer has to make sure the application is both functional and attractive to the target users. In this case, the user experience designer must have knowledge of both the technology of applications and the applied art. I am quite falling in love with this job because I can both enjoy the great demands and bonus of the computer industry and stay away from dull codes. Besides, I am good at dealing with kinds of people. I know what they think and what they need. The user experience designer, unbelievably, earns 5000 dollars more than the application developer averagely a year. It seems much more attractive than 56 percent of the user experience designer is female, compared with 20 percent of the application developer.
A great bonus, great health benefits, the great effect of years of experience and great working place make these two jobs more charming. The 4 out of 5 satisfaction score means no heavy stress for workers, which is especially important for people struggling with anxiety like me. My intended major, however, is not much suitable for them. I want to learn some engineering about artificial intelligence. It seems likable of these two industries. But I must decide two things: Whether hardware or software, I should learn? Whether technology or art, I should choose. The common major of the application developer is computer science while design and applied art is the common major of the user experience designer. My future job career is depended on these choices, which should be made extremely carefully. I would take the advice from my parents, my adviser of OSU, and most importantly, myself.
