About Me

I am Andrew Wallace, I’m from Kent, Ohio. I intend to graduate from The Ohio State University with a degree in Social Work. As a learner and a leader I am very goal focused, and let detail fall into place naturally as I focus on completing the objective. I love to meet new people; travel is my passion, and I’m eager to share the knowledge I’ve gained, and will continue to gain here at school with those new people I meet, as well as future co-workers.

Year in Review

[ “Year in Review”  is where you should reflect on the past year and show how you have evolved as a person and as a student.  You may want to focus on your growth in a particular area (as a leader, scholar, researcher, etc.) or you may want to talk about your overall experience over the past year.  For more information, go to: http://honors-scholars.osu.edu/e-portfolio. G.O.A.L.S.

I have become involved in the G.O.A.L.S. of the Honors & Scholars Center by setting goals, making plans, and following through. I believe in Mount Leadership society and the Mount essentials as they improve my skills as a leader. I am determined that the goals I set will affect the world at large. I have and will continue to strive for academic excellence in my quest for knowledge.  I believe my attitude and experience will help me to lead others in affecting positive change. I’ve always been very outgoing and have spent, and will continue to spend years sharpening this natural talent into the leadership skills needed to be successful in any situation I may wind up in.

Through Mount I have been able to join Team Global, and while we’re just starting out, we’ve got big plans for the future as far as volunteering, and making an impact in the global community is concerned. Our task is to come up with an original volunteer project that addresses the global issue of our choosing. Being put into a position where I can be creative, and work with people who have diverse backgrounds while striving to reach the common goal of helping others is something very few other organizations could have helped me to do.

I have participated in no less than one service event, (typically more) every month since I’ve come to campus, and I hope to continue to participate in my community at such a rate. I know it makes a difference to those around me, and the experiences I have, and will continue to gain are priceless.

Career

I look forward to helping others in whatever ways I can in the future. As a Social Work major I believe my most important job is to find the skills others have, and to challenge them to use them in order to help themselves in the long term.

I have experience as an Alumni Relations Committee chair; which taught me a lot about organization, communication and delegation. It was a team effort to put together events that would allow alumni and students to build relationships.

This is a picture of my official Mount Leadership welcome kit. It includes my class’ official t-shirt, a welcome letter, as well as the Mount pin. Joining Mount was a significant choice in my academic career, because it allowed me to come to a campus where I knew next to nobody and immediately be introduced to a large group of students who were also focused on building connections, helping others, and achieving academic excellence. This was basically the first choice I made after deciding to come to The Ohio State University, and I’m confident that it was a great one.
